LA-Bron Is Happening. Now What?

As you well know, LeBron James is headed to Hollywood to join the Lakers. He’ll be joining a young core of Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball, as well as recent Free Agent acquisition Rajon Rondo.

I understand it from a family perspective. He obviously felt that his family would feel comfortable moving to LA, where he already owned a home. Plus there’s also the financial side – he signed a $153.3 million contract over 4 years with a player option for the fourth year. That averages out to be roughly $38.33 million per year. That’s crazy. So for those reasons I do understand the decision. But there are other things too. The Lakers are still at best 4th in the West in my opinion. They don’t have a chance at beating the heavyweights like the Warriors and the Rockets. They simply don’t have the talent to do so. Yes, I know LeBron is the best player in the league and one of the best players of all time, but that’s not enough to beat Golden State and Houston. Also the Lakers aren’t any better than last year’s Cavs, in fact they might be worse. Plus there’s the obvious drama surrounding Lonzo Ball and his family, most notably his father Lavar, drama which is a distraction and quite honestly really darn annoying. I personally wouldn’t want to be around that. Obviously, LeBron sees potential there, which is fine, although if I were him I would’ve either stayed in Cleveland or gone to Philadelphia. But that of course is just my own personal opinion.

So what does this mean for the rest of the league? Well currently, it doesn’t really mean much for the league’s top teams. It’s still going to be the Warriors and Rockets ruling the West and the Celtics, 76ers, and Raptors in the East. Now next summer that could change, especially if the Lakers can bring in another superstar, say Kawhi Leonard, which would instantly make them a serious contender. The Lakers are finally once again an attractive free agent destination with the addition or LBJ. But as for right now, not much changes.

Thank You for taking the time to read this and I will be writing more articles and making videos. I know that this one is kind of short, but it’s just because I’m just getting started with this. They will be longer in the future. Thanks again.
